Let’s start off our Xtra-Pc reviews with an introduction. Xtra-PC is a gadget that allows users to speed up their slow computers and to retrieve data from their old PC. And it also proves efficient to protect your privacy at home or on the road. Indeed, you can use any device anonymously, without leaving any trace of your activity.
On the outside, it looks just like an ordinary flash drive, but it’s the inside that works wonders. It is powered by Linux which replaces your slow Windows OS or macOS. The result is blazing-fast speeds without having to upgrade anything in your hardware.
While it runs on Linux, anyone can easily use it. See it in action below:
The great thing about it is that it doesn’t just work on old computers, but also on those with missing or faulty hard drives. Because it functions as a USB PC stick and runs on a completely different OS, your existing files won’t be altered, and you will still be able to access them.
Xtra-PC is a small USB PC stick that works by bypassing your computer’s operating system and using a new one to make it faster.
Linux is a famous open-source operating system. And it’s being used by the biggest companies. While its interface is not like Windows (it’s more similar to macOS), Xtra PC offers its own distribution. Therefore, it looks and feels more like using Windows.
Basically, you can use your hardware and leave behind all the digital baggage installed by your OS and the programs you’ve been using:
As a result, you have more memory for active processes. And your PC becomes faster: as fast as it was when it was new! Keep on reading our Xtra-Pc reviews to find out more about the device.
Insert the USB PC stick into a port, then follow the on-screen prompts to set it up.
Your computer also has to be rebooted for it to work. If you need any help, you can check their initial setup guide. After that, you can start using your PC as if you just bought it in mint condition.
If you’re not really tech-savvy, worry not!
Because it’s user-friendly and doesn’t require a complicated setup. Indeed, the most advanced users could create their own bootable drive running Linux. And they don’t need this kind of product. So, it’s really focused on regular users who need a turnkey solution.
With all the amazing features we mentioned in our Xtra-Pc reviews above, you might be thinking that it is expensive. Wrong! Another big advantage is that for its robust functionalities, Extra PC is actually reasonably priced.
Of course, compared to ordinary USB computer flash drives, it’s more expensive. But considering the fact that you’re not buying a brand-new computer, this one will make your bank account happy.
All three XtraPC models offer features and functionalities that cater to whatever needs you have. If you’re not satisfied with it, they have a 30-day money-back guarantee. So you can get a refund when returning your device. But they do have strict policies regarding this. So just be sure to comply with their requirements.
This is the most basic model among the three versions. The Turbo 16 is priced at $49.99, but if you check their website right now, they have an ongoing sale that gives you a discount of 30% off.
Its capacity is 16 GB, which is enough for you to surf the internet, stream videos, and play online games at extremely fast speeds. Furthermore, the compact size of the USB computer stick fits in your pocket perfectly, making it the ideal choice for laptops and desktop computers.
This model is the most popular among buyers because it has the perfect capacity size — not too light and not too heavy. You can get the Turbo 32 at $82.99 at its regular price, but if you’re lucky to catch their ongoing sale, you can get it a discounted price of $49.99.
It has 32 GB of capacity and allows you to use your PC at a faster speed and larger storage than the Turbo 16. This tiny-sized USB stick is the perfect model for you if you’re looking to transform your outdated laptop or PC.
Being the most robust model among the three versions, the Turbo PRO is perfect if you want a complete overhaul. It’s priced at $159.99, but you can buy it with a 50% discount if you can still catch their ongoing sale.
The 64 GB capacity allows it to store all of your documents, photos, music, and movies and leaves enough space for blazing-fast internet browsing speed. Additionally, it’s the only version that comes with the FileRez software, allowing you to find and retrieve files from your old Windows even if it crashed.
Extra PC didn’t market these features. But we believe that they’re worth mentioning since they’re extremely useful. Most Xtra PC reviews don’t mention these either.
If you’re a penny-pincher, you’ll be amazed at how much you can get for your money’s worth with this gadget. Bet you didn’t know that this USB computer stick can also be used for protecting your privacy.
You can surf the internet without leaving any traces of your activities on the computer. Indeed, as long as you’re using it, you won’t be accessing anything from your old OS.
So how exactly does it do that?
Since you’re using the Linux OS instead of your old Windows or Mac OS, you don’t leave any trace on your computer. Everything remains only on the USB stick.
So, you’re free to do online activities that involve sensitive information such as sending emails and checking your bank account. Worrying about compromising your privacy and security will be the last thing on your mind.
Plus, as long as you have the USB computer stick with you at all times, your data is safe and secure.
However, if you want to take this feature to the next level, you can use a VPN that’s compatible with Linux. This way, you’ll always be extra protected when you connect to the internet.
Another good thing about this device that deserves a mention in our Xtra-Pc reviews is that you can surf the internet without getting infected by viruses and malware.
Once again, this is thanks to the OS of the USB drive. Linux, like macOS, is a system well-protected against viruses (but not totally immune to them).

Hi! Does the turbo copy the docs and photos, leaving the originals on the pc's hard drive? and if there are , let's say more than one copy of the file does the turbo copy each of them?
Hi Robert,
This gadget doesn't copy your files. But you can see the files from your computer's hard drive in the explorer.
Then you can copy/paste these files in the Xtra-PC storage. But you will have to make sure manually that there are no duplicates.
Can I use it on my Samsung Tab which doesn't have a USB port?
Hi Naseem,
This product is for computers (desktops and laptops).
My sons computer is only 2 years old Windows 10 and it wont let him use his password he says it is right because he wrote it down. will this fix it fore him or should he take it to a shop?
Hi Charles, the Xtra-PC can help to retrieve the files from the hard drive. But it will not "fix" your son's Windows user account.
Will I be able to keep all my internet bookmarks anfd favorits with xtrtapc?
yes, you just export in one click from any browser and use in the browser of xtra-pc
This is really handy. Thanks man!
You're very welcome! Glad you got something out of the article!
Tried this out on my old pc. used to be really good then it was getting slow over the years. worked like a charm ever since i plugged it in.
That's great news! Glad it's been of good use to you!
Do I have to use it all the time? Waht if i forget to bring it around with me?
If you want your computer to be at optimal speeds at all times, then yes you should probably use it all the time. If you forget about it, then you won't have the best speeds or performance. I suggest keeping it on something you never leave the house without - a keychain perhaps?
function on apple macbook? not windows user. I only use iOS for my laptop
This is functional on both iOS and Windows devices! So there's no problem here. Feel free to use it on your Macbook anytime without worrying!
So let me get this straight... It can fix my old computer and give me data privacy?
It doesn't exactly "fix" your computers per se. To put it in better words, you will have a faster, better experience with your old PC compared to before. It can't fix the extremely irretrievable devices. And yes! It can definitely give you data privacy online since it uses a different OS. To make it even better, I recommend pairing this with a quality VPN so that you will have the ultimate security when browsing online.
How does it help in privacy protection?? Is it like a main goal or something????
I wouldn't say it's one of their priorities, it's more of a by-product. It's because Xtra-PC uses a Linux OS instead of the usual Windows or iOS. Therefore, your activity is completely hidden because you are using a completely different operating system that doesn't have any of your data.
